About TED
x
TED is on a mission to discover and spread ideas that spark imagination, embrace possibility and catalyze impact. Our organization is devoted to curiosity, reason, wonder and the pursuit of knowledge — without an agenda. We welcome people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world and connection with others, and we invite everyone to engage with ideas and activate them in your community.

TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it spans a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives exploring everything from science and business to education, arts and global issues. Each year, more than 3,000 independently run TEDx events bring people together to share ideas and bridge divides in communities on every continent. TED is owned by a nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation. Our aim is to help create a future worth pursuing for all.

TEDxUofTScarborough (previously known as TEDxUTSC) has been a cornerstone of the University of Toronto Scarborough community for over eight years. Our annual conference has always been the most anticipated event on campus, a celebration of ideas and innovation. Though we faced a three-year pause due to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, TEDxUofTScarborough is back, stronger than ever. We remain dedicated to the power of ideas and the TEDx spirit. Our conference draws a diverse and engaged audience, both on campus and worldwide, as we live-stream our event. Beyond our conference, we host smaller events, such as speaking workshops and campus de-stressors, to enhance public speaking skills and foster greater engagement in intellectual discourse.

TEDxUofTScarborough is not just an event; it's a platform for sharing ideas and inspiring change. Join us as we continue to build on our legacy, embrace challenges, and inspire both our local and global communities. Together, we will create a brighter, more innovative future.
