Director of Partnerships

 What you will do:

  • Draft clear, persuasive email templates and sponsorship proposals tailored to each potential partner after thorough background research on sponsor goals and market trends to propose “win-win” activations.

  • Collaborate with marketing to refine tone, messaging, and brand voice across all partnership materials, while showcasing TEDxUTSC’s mission and impact.

  • Design and build polished slide decks (e.g., Canva/PowerPoint/Google Slides) for sponsor pitches, mid-negotiation check-ins, and final deliverables.

  • Visualize key metrics, event highlights, and ROI projections to demonstrate value through work with the Marketing and Brand Strategy team.

  • Brainstorm innovative sponsorship packages that go beyond logo placement (e.g., co-branded workshops, social media collaborations, speaker meet-and-greet opportunities).

  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions (with Finance, Marketing, Co-Chairs) to ensure packages align with budget constraints and brand guidelines.

  • Assist the Lead of Partnerships in tracking outreach progress, following up on pending conversations, and maintaining organized records (e.g., CRM updates or shared spreadsheets). 

  • Act as a point of contact for assigned sponsors when delegated, ensuring timely responses and consistent communication.

What we are looking for

  • Strong Copywriting Ability: Experience drafting persuasive essays, proposals, or long-form content; familiarity with storytelling techniques that drives action (e.g., “Why sponsor TEDxUTSC?”). 

  • Presentation & Design Proficiency: Create compelling slide decks from scratch with engaging content and visually appealing design that incorporates TED branding. 

  • Creative Thinking & Problem Solving: Demonstrate ability to generate fresh sponsorship ideas that align with both TEDx values and partner KPIs, while keeping in mind Finances and Team collaboration. 

  • Essay Writing & Research: Capacity to research sponsor backgrounds, industry trends, and competitive landscapes to strengthen proposals, while presenting them in a well-organized writing style. 

  • Interpersonal & Team Collaboration: Must coordinate with cross-functional partners (Marketing, Finance, Co-Chairs), and mentor any junior volunteers, while adhering to deadlines.

  • (Optional) Prior experience in event sponsorship, development, marketing, or a similar role—either in a student club or professional setting. 

  • (Optional) Familiarity with TEDx brand guidelines and digital tools (e.g., Canva, Google Slides, basic photo editing).
